Embroidery is the process or creating a design or logo on an item of clothing using coloured cotton thread.

An embroidered logo (design and/or text) produces a very prestigeous look. It is ideal on heavier garments such as polo shirts, fleeces, jackets, sweatshirts and hoodies, however it can still easily be used on a heavier grade t-shirt. It's great for work wear clothing too! Embroidery is best used on smaller designs (up to about 8-10cm square). Larger designs take time to produce and are therefore more costly, which is when we would recommend screen printing, - we tend to find that the most popular use of embroidery is breast logos, web addresses, personalisation (such as individual names) etc.

Once we have your logo or design we 'digitise it' which is the process of formatting the design in such a way that our embroidery software can recognise it and replicate the design onto the garments. At Shirtlab we pride ourselves with the quality of our finished embroidered clothing. Like many processes there are good and bad ways of achieving the end result (chosing a certain type of stitch for a design can have a marked effect on the finished look) - we believe, through our years of hands-on experience, that our embroidery processes and finished embroidered garments are second to none. Bad embroidery processes are typified by uneven thread placement, wrinkling of the material around the embroidered design, holes in the garment and loose threads. The minimum embroidery order is 6 (but they do not need to be the same garment). If you would like to order a lower number of garments we would recommend digital printing. Make you own unique embroidery for singles orders!
